Afgelopen nacht stond Los Angeles in het teken van de jaarlijkse Game Awards. Naast veel show en nieuwe trailers werden ook de gelijknamige prijzen uitgereikt. Waar vooraf veel mensen keken naar kanshebbers als Deathloop en Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, ging een verrassende derde met de winst naar huis: It Takes Two.
Naast Game of the Year kreeg de sublieme co-op game It Takes Two ook prijzen in de categorieën beste familiegame en beste multiplayergame. Van de vele nominaties die Deathloop had, wist de game alleen best game direction en best art direction te verzilveren. Ratchet & Clank bleef ondanks hoge verwachtingen zelfs met lege handen achter.
Als beste actiegame ging Returnal er met de prijs vandoor. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy kreeg de prijs voor het beste verhaal en als beste actie/avontuur mocht Metroid Dread het podium op.

Het is wellicht niet per se dé GotY voor mij, maar ik kan niet zeggen dat de lof onverdiend is! Ik speel hem momenteel, en het is simpelweg een erg goed spel! Het is in de basis een simpele puzzel platformer, maar er zitten heel wisselende gameplaymechanics in en dat houd het de hele tijd fris 🙂
