Het is misschien wel het laatste wat je verwacht, maar volgens The Wall Street Journal komt er een Tetris-film. Zij meldden onlangs dat Treshold Entertainment, bekend van de Mortal Kombat films, een samenwerking is aangegaan met de Tetris Company om een live action film gebaseerd op het spel Tetris te maken. Hoe zo’n film er dan uiteindelijk uit zal komen te zien, is voor ons nog een groot raadsel. De directeur van Treshold, Larry Kasanoff, laat ook niet veel los behalve het volgende:
It’s a very big, epic sci-fi movie… This isn’t a movie with a bunch of lines running around the page. We’re not giving feet to the geometric shapes. Brands are the new stars of Hollywood. We have a story behind ‘Tetris’ which makes it a much more imaginative thing.Ook managing director van de Tetris Company, Henk Rogers, houdt het geheimzinnig:
We look forward to partnering with Threshold Entertainment to re-imagine that common experience and bring a spectacular new Tetris universe to the big screen for the first time.
