Het is geen geheim dat Nintendo momenteel zwaar in de financiële problemen zit en dat moeten de medewerkers van het bedrijf nu helaas aan den lijve ondervinden. Nintendo zal namelijk enkel in Europa de komende tijd al 130 werknemers ontslaan.
Het Europese hoofdkantoor in Großostheim zal compleet gesloten worden. Het kantoor in Frankfurt wordt nu het hoofdkantoor en verschillende taken zullen uitbesteed worden. Nintendo laat in een officiële verklaring weten:
Nintendo of Europe has entered into a consultation process on a number of changes it is intending to make to its European business which, in the long term, will better enable the European business to adapt to the rapidly changing business environment.Nintendo heeft op de aankomende E3 nog één kans om de consument weer voor zich te winnen. These intended measures have not been made lightly and have only been arrived at after thorough analysis and careful consideration. The intended measures will sadly have a direct effect on some of the employees based in the Großostheim and Frankfurt offices in Germany and would lead to the release of approximately 130 permanent employees.
Nintendo of Europe is committed to a fair consultation process with the local Works Council in Germany with the objective of providing clarity and support for all affected employees as soon as possible.
Sorry, maar 130 medewerkers laten gaan lijkt me nou niet “zware financiële problemen”. Nintendo heeft nog altijd meer dan genoeg geld om 3 wii u’s de wereld in te jagen zonder success.
Voor een bedrijf als Nintendo is 130 werknemer nou niet zo heel veel. Het blijft natuurlijk jammer voor die 130.
Daarbij was de Wii zo’n succes dat ze behoorlijk wat reserves hebben dus het kan nog wel even duren voordat hun in de financieele problemen komen
