De beroemde en beruchte analist Michael Pachter gelooft dat Electronic Arts graag Don Mattrick had aangesteld als CEO. Na het vertrek van John Riccitiello eerder dit jaar zit EA nog zonder algemeen directeur. Pachter is van mening dat EA nu weer terug bij af is in de zoektocht, doordat Mattrick deze week tekende voor het CEO-schap bij ontwikkelaar Zynga.
Met namen als Peter Moore en Frank Gibeau heeft EA nog prima mensen in huis om de positie van CEO op te vullen, maar het is nog maar de vraag of EA (en de aandeelhouders) het ook zo zien. Pachter vertelde:
We believe that the company will find few qualified candidates outside the company, and will ultimately choose between the top two internal candidates, COO Peter Moore and EVP Frank Gibeau. Both men are capable of running EA, in our opinion, and investors would respond favorably to either being appointed.Mr. Mattrick has the skills and experience required to manage a large organization, and we believe he will right-size Zynga staffing levels in order to allow the company to become profitable almost immediately
