Achievements onthuld voor Far Cry 2

Nu we inmiddels al een ruime week zekerheid hebben over de releasedatum van Far Cry 2, die valt namelijk op 24 oktober, kunnen we de dagen gaan aftellen tot het spel in de winkels ligt. Vandaag zijn ook de Achievements van deze game opgedoken. Je vindt ze onderaan dit bericht.

Na Far Cry liet ontwikkelaar Crytek de franchise varen om met Crysis bezig te gaan. Ubisoft pakte de naam Far Cry op en zette het getalenteerde team in Montreal (Rainbow Six: Vegas, Splinter Cell, Assassin’s Creed) op het ambitieuze project Far Cry 2. De nadruk zal in Far Cry 2 volledig liggen op grimmig realisme, en geen sci-fi elementen zoals we die in de eerste Far Cry-game nogal eens aantroffen. We hoeven dus zeker niet bang te zijn om rare mutanten ineens tegen te komen. Toch komen we wel monsters tegen, maar dan als metafoor voor gruwelijke mensen. De grootste verrassing die Far Cry 2 brengt is dat jij, de hoofdpersoon, geïnfecteerd bent met het malaria-virus. Je zult tijdens je avonturen steeds op zoek moeten blijven naar de juiste medicijnen om niet nog zieker te worden. Het medicijn geeft je extra kracht en betere weerstand tegen aanvallen en verwondingen, maar als je te lang zonder medicijn speelt zal je zelf langzaam maar zeker veranderen in een bijzonder ziek persoon. Ubisoft heeft hiervoor een speciaal levelling systeem ontwikkeld voor je character.

Een ander speciaal systeem is gericht op je verwondingen. Regelmatig zal je ‘normale’ schade oplopen, maar zo af en toe kan je ook dusdanig serieus gewond raken dat het nodig is om ter plekke jezelf te behandelen. Denk hierbij aan het verwijderen van een kogel uit je lichaam en het verbinden van een bloedende wond. Als je niets aan zulke verwondingen doet zullen ze je altijd fataal worden en je bent tevens meteen dood als je neergeschoten wordt terwijl je bezig bent met het verzorgen van een verwonding. Gelukkig heeft Ubisoft al aangegeven dat je niet om de haverklap te maken krijgt met zulke opspelende wonden.
