The Creative Assembly sluit VR-versie Alien: Isolation niet uit

Horrorgames lenen zich perfect voor virtual reality en er zijn weinig horrorgames zo eng als Alien: Isolation. Fans vroegen dus al snel na de release om een VR-versie van deze game en op een gegeven moment maakte The Creative Assembly zelfs een demo, maar sindsdien is het angstvallig stil gebleven.

Gelukkig is er nog hoop. Op het BFI London Film Festival liet Alien Isolation-regisseur Alistair Hope tijdens een panel weten dat een VR-versie van Alien: Isolation nog steeds mogelijk is. Hope’s antwoord was echter wel nogal vaag:

Question: What do you think it’ll take for the powers that be to say, ‘Great let’s do it, let’s make the full Oculus version of the game’. And what would be the problems?

Alistair Hope: What will it take? I don’t know. We were talking about this earlier, unlike the film industry where people talk about what they’re doing, in the game’s industry people tend not to talk about anything, so it’s really difficult to talk about some things.

Het klinkt dus niet alsof de VR-versie van Alien: Isolation binnenkort zal verschijnen. Mogelijk wacht The Creative Assembly tot volgend jaar, wanneer de consumentenversies van de brillen in de winkels liggen.
