Robert Kotick, Bobby voor vrienden, maar er is niemand die hem zo noemt. De directeur van Activision die 77.306 dollar per uur verdient voor het runnen van een voor niet-mannen onvriendelijk bedrijf. Nou ja hij. Hij zal binnenkort afzwaaien, want Microsoft gaat Activision runnen en of ze dat goed gaan doen is niet bekend, maar de lat ligt laag, want IEDEREEN kan Activision beter leiden dan Kotick.
Maar goed Kotick, de behaarde zak van de gamesindustrie, meester in het ontslaan van iedereen die net onder het middenkader valt en mede daarom altijd het vertrouwen van de walgelijke aandeelhouders krijgt.
Nou ja hij dus. Hij wil graag dat Microsoft Guitar Hero en Skylanders terugbrengt. Dat zei hij in een gesprek met VentureBeat:
“[Xbox CEO] Phil [Spencer] and I started riffing on things for the future. I’ll give you three that are really compelling. I wanted to make a new Guitar Hero for a while, but I don’t want to add teams to do manufacturing and supply chain and QA for manufacturing. And the chip shortages are enormous.”
“We didn’t really have the ability to do that. I had a really cool vision for what the next Guitar Hero would be, and realised we don’t have the resources to do that.”
“And Skylanders too. One of the great disappointments of my career is that other people came in and they came out with crappy alternatives. And they dumped all of these crappy alternatives in the market, and basically destroyed the market for what was a really cool future opportunity.”
De absolute lul met vingers laat hier keihard zien hoe incapabel hij is! Het geld klotst al jaren tegen de plinten bij Activision, maar plastic gitaartjes maken is te moeilijk? Niet rendabel te maken? Guitar Hero 3 leverde als eerste game van Acti een miljard op (via VGC). Maar ja een miljard is natuurlijk te weinig. Ontslaan die ontwikkelaars.
En HET advies dat hij de nieuwe baas van Activision geeft is: “hey! Weet je wat jij moet doen? NOG MEER PLASTIC DE WERELD IN FLIKKEREN! VINDEN MENSEN LEUK”
Deze man… Pffff.
