The Assignment is het eerste DLC-pakket in een tweedelige uitbreiding op de singleplayer. Deze uitbreiding focust zich op Juli Kidman, de partner van protagonist Sebastian Castellanos.
John Johanas van ontwikkelaar Tango Gameworks laat weten dat de DLC geïnspireerd is door Chapter 5 en 9 uit The Evil Within:
Chapter 9 had you uncover past stories by solving puzzles and exploring and there is a lot of that in the DLC. Overall, Juli’s adventure is rather story driven – Juli tends to ‘discover’ these things by her actions and by solving puzzles.
