De regisseur van Resident Evil, Paul W.S. Anderson, heeft volgens The Hollywood Reporter getekend voor een rampenfilm genaamd Pompeii, gebaseerd op de beroemde vulkaanuitbarsting van de Vesuvius in het jaar 79 na Christus.
Pompeii zal naast de vulkaanuitbarsting vooral een liefdesverhaal zijn. De synopsis luidt als volgt:
Set in late summer 79 A.D., Pompeii revolves around the slave of a shipping tycoon who dreams of the day he can buy his freedom and marry his master’s daughter. What the slave doesn’t know is that she’s already been promised to a corrupt Roman senator, while he’s been sold to another owner.Het script gaat geschreven worden door Lee Batchler en Janet Scott Batchler, maar een cast is nog niet bekend.
