The Legend of Zelda kent wel terdege een tijdlijn, aldus Aonuma

Na vele jaren is het grote woord er dan eindelijk uit, want medeproducer Eiji Aonuma wist tijdens een interview met Official Nintendo Magazine te vertellen dat The Legend of Zelda wel terdege een tijdlijn kent en dat het aankomende Skyward Sword een prequel is op Ocarina of Time.

Volgens de beste man wordt de informatie omtrent de tijdlijn bewaard in een vertrouwelijk document, waar enkel en alleen Miyamoto, Aonuma en de producent van Skyward Sword toegang tot hebben.

Yes, there is a master timeline, but it’s confidential document! The only people to have access to that document are myself, Mr. Miyamoto and the director of the title. We can’t share it with anyone else! I have already talked to Mr. Miyamoto about this so I am comfortable in releasing this information – this title [Skyward Sword] takes place before Ocarina of Time. If I said that a certain title was ‘the first Zelda game’, then that means that we can’t ever make a title that takes place before that! So for us to add titles to the series, we have to have a way of putting the titles before or after each other.

Dit beëindigt in ieder geval de discussie of er überhaupt wel een tijdlijn bestaat, nu kunnen de verdere discussies losbarsten omtrent de volgorde. Één ding is in ieder geval zeker; Skyward Sword speelt zich heel vroeg af in de tijdlijn.
