Vorig jaar dook al het nieuws op dat 20th Century Fox een eerste script voor de verfilming van de tv-serie 24 had afgewezen. Toch lijkt de film nog niet afgeschreven te zijn.
Volgens uitvoerend producent Howard Gordon is de film nog altijd in leven, ook al heeft de film nog altijd geen script:
“As far as I know, it is in suspended animation. There is talk about re-approaching it. I understand (director/producer) Tony Scott is meeting with Kiefer to talk about ideas. People are still talking about it.”De producer ziet dus nog wel meer leven in het personage Jack Bauer, maar ziet de held zelf dat ook? Acteur Kiefer Sutherland reageerde ook positief:“I was disappointed [Fox] passed on the script, but I’m certainly hopeful that the movie will get made at some point. Anecdotally, I’ve heard from people who are really missing the show and I do think there is more life in Jack Bauer.”
“Something we’ve dealt with in the series is how the crisis always has to come to us because we don’t have time to move anywhere in a real time world. In a two-hour (movie) representation of the 24 world, planes, trains, and automobiles all of a sudden become a factor because you are not required to go scene by scene in real time. That’s something I can say I am very excited about.”Vrijwel alle partijen zijn dus nog steeds erg enthousiast, al is het nog maar de vraag wanneer iedereen tevreden is en de productie verder vorm zal krijgen. Dit zal nog wel even op zich laten wachten, al zijn er wereldwijd miljoenen fans die erg graag meer 24 willen zien…
