Nieuwe Microsoft studio werkt aan AAA-titel voor Kinect

Microsoft heeft een nieuwe studio geopend in Vancouver te Canada, welke op dit moment een AAA shooter ontwikkeld voor de Kinect. Vandaag heeft Microsoft Game Studios Vancouver hun officiële website gelanceerd. De site beschrijft zichzelf als een studio die games ontwikkeld voor “hardcore” gamers. MGS Vancouver zal vanzelfsprekend exclusief games ontwikkelen voor Microsoft hardware, waaronder de Kinect.

MGS Vancouver is building a world-class development team in Vancouver, BC, Canada, dedicated to making games for “core” gamers. Our mission is to push the limits of proven and unexplored game development and show the world what’s possible on Microsoft’s game consoles. And yes, we’re also an awesome place to work!

Op dit moment is de studio bezig aan een shooter voor de Kinect, dit is af te lezen in het CV van Shawn Woods, art director bij MGS Vancouver. Het lijkt erop dat Microsoft in de toekomst meer exclusieve games wil ontwikkelen voor de huidige en toekomstige Xbox consoles. Microsoft verloor een paar jaar geleden de twee ontwikkelaars Bungie en Ensemble Studios, maar is sindsdien bezig met een comeback door de aanschaf van BigPark Studios, ontwikkelaar van Kinect Joy Ride, en de oprichting van 343 Industries. Laatstgenoemde werkt aan een nieuwe Halo game, welke volgens geruchten een HD remake is van Halo: Combat Evolved.
