Vandaag kondigde Lionhead Studios aan dat Peter Molyneux en Jeff Minter (Llamasoft) een nieuwe game zullen ontwikkelen voor de GameCube. Om wat voor game het gaat wordt nog geheel geheim gehouden, maar de titel is al wel bekend: Unity.
De makers zelf omschrijven de game als volgd:
Unity is a fabulous journey through a succession of beautiful abstract 3D spaces, with gameplay varying in tempo, from fast paced shooting to a more gentle progression. Audio effects will be closely linked with the games pace and tempo and will be an integral part of the playing experience”.
Het project is inmiddels al 5 maanden in ontwikkeling maar wordt volledig geheimgehouden. De graphics zijn al wel in ver stadium ontwikkeld, Minter wist zelfs een ervaren “editorial”-team te volledig verbazen met deze game.
Peter Molyneux zei ook dat hij het een enorme eer vond om in het gezelschap van Jeff Minter een game te gaan ontwikkelen. Ook Minter gaf aan dat hij graag met Molyneux samenwerkte, voor hem is de samenwerking tussen Llamasoft en Lionhead een droom-project en hij gelooft dat het resultaat werkelijk verbluffend zal worden:
“I am very happy indeed finally to be able to talk about this excellent collaboration between Llamasoft and Lionhead which will allow me to work on what is basically my dream project. The chance to undertake this work with the backing of one of the best and most respected development houses in the world, and with the guidance of some of the finest and most creative minds in the business, is perhaps the greatest opportunity I have had in my entire career, and I believe that together we can produce something truly extraordinary”
Kortom: goed nieuws voor alle GameCube bezitters. Met deze twee zeer ervaren ontwikkelaars is het bijna zeker dat hier een topgame uit zal komen. Over de release-datum is nog niks bekend, maar GamersNet houd jullie uiteraard op de hoogte.
