Elke dag is er wel nieuws te melden over The Dark Knight Rises. Het interessante is dat men ook de oude films uit de sloot blijft halen. Met de twee films van Tim Burton is niks mis maar Joel Schumachers’ Batman Forever en vooral Batman & Robin zijn volgens de fans op zijn zachtst gezegd niet geslaagd.
Schumacher had het onlangs over zijn werk voor de Batman franchise:
I was supposed to do a fifth one. I was talking to Nicolas Cage about playing the Scarecrow. I had begged the studio for The Dark Knight but they wanted a family friendly, toyetic thing.
George Clooney zou opnieuw zijn opwachting maken in Batman Triumphant, met de Scarecrow die achter Batman aanzit. Clooney vertelde in een gesprek met Total Film waarom hij de rol van Batman wilde spelen:
The truth is, my phone rang, and the head of Warner Bros said, ‘Come into my office, you are going to play Batman in a Batman film.’ And I said, ‘Yeah!’ I called my friends and they screamed and I screamed and we couldn’t believe it!Zo simpel was het voor de voormalige ER ster, die dankzij Batman zijn hele carrière zag veranderen:
Batman is still the biggest break I ever had and it completely changed my career, even if it was weak and I was weak in it. It was a difficult film to be good in. I don’t know what I could have done differently. But if I am going to be Batman in the film ‘Batman and Robin,’ I can’t say it didn’t work and then not take some of the blame for that.
