Sony gebruikte de presentatie voor de E3 vooral om de online mogelijkheden van de Playstation 3 te demonstreren. Microsoft is echter niet overtuigd en zegt dat Sony vooral met ‘nieuwe’ features komt welke al op de Xbox beschikbaar waren.
- “I’m flattered that they’ve followed our clear direction,” Lewis told Eurogamer TV in an exclusive interview today. “Plagiarism’s a good thing – that in itself isn’t such a problem, it’s what the market wants. But we’ve known that’s what the market wanted all along.”

“It’s good to see them catching up in that regard,” he noted. “I think the service is still hazy in my view in terms of how it’s really going to work for the consumer – how the pricing’s going to work still to me seems very unclear.”
Microsoft denkt dat de doorslaggevende factor in de consoleware de online diensten zullen zijn. Lewis Levin, Corporate Vice President van Microsoft, verklaarde dat Microsoft een andere visie op de online diensten heeft dan Sony. Het Amerikaanse bedrijf heeft de hele console rond de online diensten opgebouwd, in tegenstelling tot Sony, wat de functie als ‘eventueel bruikbaar’ zou zien. Bekijk het hele interview hier.
