Activision heeft in een bericht op het Call of Duty blog bekendgemaakt dat er nieuwe anti-cheat software in aantocht is. Het fraaie stukje software gaat door het leven als Ricochet Anti-Cheat en zal vanaf de lancering van Call of Duty: Vanguard actief zijn. Later dit jaar komt Ricochet ook richting Warzone met de grote Pacific update.
De blogpost meldt dat Ricochet Anti-Cheat een uitgebreide aanpak is met diverse server-side tools. Speciaal voor de pc komt er zelfs een heuse kernel-level driver om cheaters nog beter te kunnen opsporen en uitsluiten.
The Ricochet Anti-Cheat initiative is a multi-faceted approach to combat cheating, featuring new server-side tools which monitor analytics to identify cheating, enhanced investigation processes to stamp out cheaters, updates to strengthen account security, and more.
In addition to server enhancements coming with Ricochet Anti-Cheat is the launch of a new PC kernel-level driver, developed internally for the Call of Duty franchise, and launching first for Call of Duty: Warzone. This driver will assist in the identification of cheaters, reinforcing and strengthening the overall server security. The kernel-level driver launches alongside the Pacific update for Warzone later this year.
Het bericht is een welkome aankondiging, nadat onlangs de Call of Duty: Vanguard multiplayer beta al behoorlijk verziekt werd door cheaters. Concurrent Battlefield 2042 had recent ook al last van cheaters. Het effect van de nieuwe Ricochet Anti-Cheat software valt nog te bezien, maar het lijkt er op dat men in elk geval flink wil optreden tegen hackers en cheaters.
