Microsoft zal volgende maand tijdens de Gamescom geheel nieuwe Xbox-hardware onthullen. Een teaser van dit nieuws bracht men via de eigen website naar buiten:
This year at Gamescom, we will be hosting a special episode of Inside Xbox, broadcast live from our Xbox booth in the Koelnmesse. Tune in on Tuesday, August 21, at 4:30 p.m. CEST (7:30 a.m. PDT) for lots of news, all-new Xbox hardware and accessories, and features on upcoming titles that we can’t wait to tell you more about and perhaps even a few surprises!Nieuwe hardware is een breed begrip. Iets eenvoudigs als een nieuwe controller is een optie, maar het zou ook om een nieuw model console kunnen gaan die de Xbox One S of Xbox One X moet gaan opvolgen. Uiteraard blijft dit slechts speculeren.
Qua games verwachten we in elk geval Forza Horizon 4 en Crackdown 3, al blijft die laatste game een zorgenkindje qua presentaties en ontwikkeling. Microsoft belooft in elk geval 25 games mee te nemen naar de Gamescom.
