Titan Books werkt samen met Bioware aan een boekenreeks voor Mass Effect: Andromeda. De ontwikkelaar laat weten een trilogie voor de serie te willen publiceren die volgend jaar uit komt. De boeken gaan inhoudelijk in op het verhaal van Mass Effect: Andromeda.
Het eerste boek van de trilogie wordt Mass Effect: Nexus Uprising en gaat dieper in op hoe de protagonist Ryder in de melkweg aankomt. Dit boek wordt door schrijvers Jason M. Hough en K.C. Alexander geschreven. Het tweede boek wordt Mass Effect: Annihilation door schrijfster Catherynne M. Valente en het derde boek Mass Effect: Initiation door N.K. Jemesin.
Oorspronkelijk zou er ook een vierde boek geschreven worden, maar auteur Mac Walters laat weten dat voorlopig op de plank te laten liggen:
“So, when we first announced our partnership with Titan the idea was I’d do a fourth book which would be a bridge to the movie – which is still something that’s out there and we’re still talking about. But when I became creative director [on Andromeda] that became priority, I guess [laughs]. And with the state of where the movie was – it just didn’t feel like a priority. So what we said was, look, we’ll deliver a fourth book but we’ll see how these three do tied to Andromeda first. They’re great, I expect people will want to see more of Andromeda before they want more of a bridge to a possible future movie, so that’s the only reason they changed. Mass Effect Andromeda became a much higher focus – certainly my main focus.”
De Mass Effect film werd in 2010 aangekondigd, maar daar is niets nieuws over bekend. Voor het eerste boek is een exacte releasedatum bekend van 28 maart 2017. Het tweede boek komt de daaropvolgende zomer en het derde boek in het herfstseizoen.
