De Dark Souls-serie heeft de afgelopen jaren een flinke schare fans opgebouwd. Massa’s gamers kijken dus reikhalzend uit naar Dark Souls 3 en als de game straks verschijnt, is het verstandig om er extra van te genieten. Het zou namelijk zomaar het laatste deel in de serie kunnen zijn.
Game Director Hidetaki Miyazaki gaf in een interview aan dat hij niet eeuwig wil doorgaan met de Dark Souls-serie. Volgens hem moet From Software na Dark Souls 3 beginnen met nieuwe projecten:
I don’t think it’d be the right choice to continue indefinitely creating Souls and Bloodborne games. I’m considering Dark Souls 3 to be the big closure on the series. That’s not just limited to me, but From Software and myself together want to aggressively make new things in the future. […] I believe that From Software has to create new things. There will be new types of games coming from us, and Dark Souls 3 is an important marker in the evolution of From Software.Dark Souls 3 staat gepland voor een release op 12 april 2016.
