Rocksteady heeft eerder al bewezen dat het in staat is om de ultieme Batman-games te creëren en naar alle schijn zal de studio zichzelf met Batman: Arkham Knight weer overtreffen. Helaas zal dit wel meteen het laatste Batman-avontuur uit de stal van Rocksteady zijn; de ontwikkelaar vindt het tijd worden voor iets nieuws.
Dax Ginn van Rocksteady vertelt dat Rocksteady al lange tijd geleden had besloten hoe het verhaal van Batman moest eindigen. In Batman: Arkham Knight wordt dat langverwachte einde werkelijkheid:
We’ve done all we can do here. It’s… it’s kind of time for us to walk away from it. Anything we do is a collective decision between Rocksteady, Warner Brothers, and DC Comics. But it was something that we were really pushing for because we had a really clear vision for how this story should end, and the way we wanted it to end.In Arkham Knight krijgen spelers de mogelijkheid om zelf in de Batmobile te stappen en dat was iets wat Rocksteady al sinds de eerste Arkham-game geweldig leek. Nu het die feature eindelijk geïmplementeerd heeft, wordt het moeilijk om dat in een volgende game nog te overtreffen:
For us I think the Batmobile is that final thing. It’s such a critical part of the game, the epicenter of the design, but once we’ve done this, I don’t know we’re ever going to feel like we’ve missed out on a critical piece of what it feels like to be the Batman. That was kind of our driving force all along.Ook op het gebied van kleuren beweert Ginn alles bereikt te hebben. Waar Arkham Asylum zich kenmerkte door koude tinten en Arkham City meer de focus legde op zwart en wit, kunnen we in Arkham Knight vooral op warme kleuren rekenen:
Arkham Knight is the other end of the spectrum. It’s hot, it’s fire, it’s heat, it’s flames. So when you look at the trilogy of games there’s this really nice color spectrum… with an explosive ending.Wij zijn benieuwd waar de heren van Rocksteady ons in de toekomst mee gaan verrassen. Zullen ze de Man of Steel nieuw leven inblazen, of stappen ze van het superheldengenre af? Het eindresultaat wordt waarschijnlijk hoe dan ook vet.
