John Wendl, content director bij Turn 10, maakte zojuist trots bekend dat Forza 5 het Mount Panorama-circuit in Bathurst zal bevatten. Dit is volgens Wendl al jarenlang één van de meest aangevraagde circuits.
Na jaren worden de gebeden van fans dus eindelijk verhoord. Volgens Wendl is Forza 5 het ultieme moment om het circuit te integreren, aangezien Turn 10 eerder nog niet de geschikte technologie had om Mount Panorama goed in beeld te brengen:
Now with digital laser scanning and our all new graphics engine on the Xbox One, we finally have the technology that can let us capture this unique track in all its challenge and grandeur. Mount Panorama is a beautifully complex and technically challenging circuit. It’s known for its extreme elevation changes and subtle camber differences throughout the track. To capture all of this intricate detail, we’re now utilizing cutting edge digital laser scanning technology that allows us incredible precision on both the vertical and horizontal axis.Om het circuit zo goed mogelijk tot leven te brengen, heeft Turn 10 samengewerkt met Mark Skaife. Deze man heeft al zes keer de Bathurst-race gewonnen en ook is hij vijf keer V8 Supercar Champion geworden. Skaife heeft het circuit onlangs zelf mogen uittesten in Forza 5 en hij was zeer onder de indruk:
In 2012, we sent a six-man crew to the circuit for three days. The team captured not only the racing surface itself, but the immediate surrounding areas as well including walls, trees, grandstands and buildings. Beyond that, however, we want to provide players with a real feel for what it’s like being at the track, what the light looks like at eight o’clock in the morning, how it feels to climb the hill or blast down the Conrod Straight. We treat all these minute specifics with utmost care. Skaife told us that the Bathurst in Forza Motorsport 5 is the most accurate recreation he’s ever seen, and that’s coming from the undisputed Bathurst master.Overigens maakte ontwikkelaar Polyphony Digital eerder deze maand al bekend dat Gran Turismo 6 het Mount Panorama-circuit zal bevatten. PlayStation 3-bezitters hoeven dus niets van de actie in Bathurst te missen.
Forza 5 zal begin volgend jaar, gelijktijdig met de Xbox One, verschijnen.
