In navolging van Peter Molyneux, Shigeru Miyamoto, Nolan Bushnell en Will Wright, wordt Gabe Newell dit jaar ook tot de BAFTA-orde toegelaten. De British Academy of Film and Television Arts kon gewoonweg niet om de man van Half-Life, Counterstrike en Steam heen.
Newell is blij met zijn uitverkiezing:
