Remake Rise of the Triad onthuld; eerste details bekend

Rise of the Triad is een first-person shooter die in 1994 verscheen. Het spel maakte gebruik van een zwaar aangepaste versie van de Wolfenstein 3D engine en werd destijds zeer positief onthaald door critici. In 2009 is het spel nieuw leven ingeblazen middels een iOS-port en gelukkig blijkt nu dat we het laatste van deze franchise nog niet gehoord hebben.

Tijdens een QuakeCon panel kondigde Apogee Software namelijk aan dat ontwikkelaar Interceptor Entertainment, bekend van Duke Nukem 3D: Reloaded, momenteel hard werkt aan een remake van Rise of the Triad. Dit spel zal de verhaallijn van het origineel behouden, maar tegelijkertijd geüpdatete 3D-werelden en een volwaardige single- en multiplayer bevatten. Terry Nagy, mede-oprichter en CCO van Apogee, vertelt:

We were seeking a strong, independent, hard-working development partner to herald the eagerly-anticipated return of ‘Rise of the Triad. We have indeed found that partner in Interceptor Entertainment.
