De The House of the Dead-games behoorden ooit tot de populairste arcadegames op de markt, maar de laatste tijd is het zeer stil rondom de serie. SEGA kondigde zojuist echter aan dat men de serie weer nieuw leven in wil blazen. Helaas niet middels een volledig nieuwe game, maar wel met een re-release van het derde en het vierde deel van de franchise. Haruki Satomi, senior vice president van Digital Business bij SEGA America, meldde:
The House of the Dead has always been one of SEGA’s most popular series, and over the years we have worked hard to bring that full arcade experience to console owners.De games zullen voorzien worden van knisperende HD-graphics, trofeeën en PlayStation Move-ondersteuning. The House of the Dead 3 zal op 7 februari op het PlayStation Network verschijnen, het vierde deel ergens in de lente. Dit wordt de eerste keer dat The House of the Dead 4 op een thuisconsole verschijnt.[…]
