Hoewel de laatste Narnia film, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, niet bepaald een blockbuster was, is Walden Media toch van plan een nieuwe film over de wereld achter de kleerkast te gaan maken. The Chronicles of Narnia-serie is gebaseerd op een reeks boeken en hoewel het volgende boek The Silver Chair is, zal de nieuwe Narnia film geen verfilming zijn van dit boek, maar een soort prequel. De film, genaamd The Magician’s Nephew, zal gaan over de oorsprong van verschillende bekende elementen in het Narnia universum.
Micheal Flaherty van Walden Media zei het volgende over The Magician’s Nephew:
We are starting to talk to Fox and talk to the C.S. Lewis estate now about the Magician’s Nephew being our next film… If we can all agree to move forward, then what we would do is find someone to write the script. So, it could still be a couple of years. […] I love the Magician’s Nephew because it’s a great origins story. You get to learn so much about where the wardrobe came from, where the lamppost came from, where Narnia came from.De film gaat dus het een en ander over de wereld van Narnia toelichten, maar we moeten nog even geduld hebben.
