In een interview met Screen Rant heeft Dennis McCarthy de lijst met auto’s prijsgegeven die in de film voorbij zullen komen. McCarthy is auto coördinator voor Fast Five, maar ook voor bijvoorbeeld The Green Hornet en Death Race. De uitstraling van de auto’s is heel anders dan in de vorige films, zo zegt McCarthy. De auto’s in Fast Five zijn een stuk minder opvallend en patserig dan wat we gewend zijn. Maar Dom, Brian en de rest zijn dan ook op de vlucht. En dan val je liever wat minder op:
It’s due to the location and the circumstances. They are down to their last pennies. They’ve transferred all the way from the U.S. on the run down to Brazil, so they don’t have the money to buy a brand new Skyline. So it was just character, environmental, and based on their means.
