Chris Hemsworth, die Thor speelt in de gelijknamige film van dit jaar, heeft het script gelezen dat Joss Whedon schreef voor The Avengers. Hemsworth zal daarin zelf ook meespelen, als Thor dus. Hij deelde zijn reactie met MTV:
Everything about the story and the comic books is huge. You have these huge, big superheroes and huge, big egos crammed into one small space. Reading the script, it was massive. Everything about it was like, ‘Oh my god.’ I said to Joss, ‘I don’t know how you’re going to shoot this thing [laughs], but I’m excited to be onboard and let’s give it a go.Verder gaf hij geen details over bijvoorbeeld de slechteriken uit de film. Wel gaf hij aan dat er nogal wat frictie is in het team met superhelden, met daarbij de nadruk op de relatie tussen Thor en de Hulk:
Plenty of friction, yeah. Hell of a lot of friction. You know in the comic books him and Hulk have their fair share of tangles…
