Vandaag is er een zeventien jarige tiener gearresteerd in Groot Brittannië onder verdenking van het hacken van Call of Duty-servers. Hij zou een programma met de naam Phenom Booter hebben gebruikt in zijn woonplaats nabij Manchester.
Afgelopen september al heeft Activision de politie op de hoogte gebracht van het gebruik van het programma en politie-inspecteur Paul Hoare is duidelijk over deze vorm van criminaliteit:
“Programs marketed in order to disrupt the online infrastructure not only affect individual players but have commercial and reputational consequences for the companies concerned.Pas dus op met wat je doet, want instanties gaan zich steeds vaker richten op dit soort voorvallen.“These games attract both children and young people to the online environment and this type of crime can often be the precursor to further offending in more traditional areas of online crime.”
