Hoewel het al te verwachten viel, heeft DreamWorks bevestigd dat men van plan is om een vervolg te maken op How to Train Your Dragon (Hoe Tem je een Draak). Men bracht vandaag de volgende verklaring naar buiten over betrokken personen:
DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. today announced plans to bring the epic action-adventure of Hiccup and his courageous Viking tribe as well as Toothless and the other beloved dragon characters on the Island of Berk back to the big screen in 3D with the sequel to How to Train Your Dragon in 2013.Zoals je kunt lezen moeten we nog wel tot 2013 wachten om weer in 3D naar Berk terug te kunnen gaan, maar de draken komen weer terug!
