Nu zowel Sony als Nintendo bezig zijn met 3D-games is het natuurlijk de vraag wat Microsoft hiermee gaat doen. Op de E3 zei Neil Thompson, de baas van het Engelse departement van Microsoft, tegen Eurogamer dat 3D een interessante technologie voor in de toekomst is. Ook gaf hij het volgende statement:
- “If you look at the costs of entry into the living room and when that’s going to become mass-market, we think the offering with Kinect and the natural user-interface we’re bringing, that’s a more compelling proposition for consumers over the coming years than maybe looking at 3D at this point.”
Thompson geeft dus aan dat Microsoft meer vertrouwen heeft om van Kinect een succes te maken. De kosten van 3D-gamen zijn volgens hem namelijk nog te hoog voor consumenten.
