Exclusives blijven vaak een prikkelend onderwerp voor liefhebbers van verschillende consoles, maar ook zien we steeds meer exclusives op een later tijdstip alsnog naar de concurrent verhuizen. Series als Metal Gear en Tekken maken straks hun opwachting op de Xbox 360, maar volgens ontwikkelaar Naughty Dog is dit absoluut uitgesloten voor één van de huidige topseries op de PlayStation 3, Uncharted.
Co-president Christophe Balestra verklaarde dat het simpelweg onmogelijk is om een game als Uncharted 2: Among Thieves op de Xbox 360 te krijgen:
- “I guarantee that this game couldn’t be working on Xbox 360. It would be impossible. I’m 100 per cent sure of this. It’s the combination of Blu-ray and hard drive, every single bit of the 25GB disc has been filled.
You can play the entire game without loading. We don’t require an install. We’re doing all the post-processing effects on the SPUs [Synergistic Processing Units]. The quality of the depth of field we have, you can’t do that on the Xbox. We’ve invested a lot of time maximising the power of the machine. That’s our job, to make the PS3 shine.”
Duidelijke taal dus, hoewel het niet heel verrassend is om te horen van een ontwikkelaar dit al sinds jaar en dag aan de PlayStation is verbonden.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is het vervolg op Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, een ijzersterke PlayStation 3-titel uit 2007 die bol stond van actie en avontuur. Het vervolg draait om de 13e eeuwse ontdekkingsreiziger Marco Polo. In dit tweede deel wordt sterk de nadruk gelegd op het verhaal, een gameplay met stealth en een mechanisme waardoor je vrij kunt klimmen in de game.
