Ubisoft heeft zojuist onthuld dat men een nieuwe studio zal openen in Toronto, Canada. Door de opening van deze nieuwe ontwikkelstudio worden er ineens 800 banen gecreëerd. Ubisoft is van plan om ruim 500 miljoen Canadese dollars (ruim 308 miljoen euro) te investeren in de studio de komende tien jaar.
Yves Guillemot, baas van Ubisoft, bracht het goede nieuws naar buiten:
- “Today’s announcement marks a strategic move for Ubisoft as we continue to expand our internal development force. We are in an excellent position to grow and after extensive analysis we are thrilled to have reached an agreement with the government of Ontario to found our new studio in Toronto. The city is one of North America’s economic and cultural epicenters and our expectations are high.
We’re excited to be able to count on the exceptional local talent, who will contribute to our accelerated growth and will have a profound impact on the video game industry with the excellence of their creativity.”
Ubisoft Toronto is al de vierde studio van Ubisoft in Canada, naast ontwikkelstudio’s in Montréal, Quebec en Vancouver. De Toronto-studio moet eind dit jaar volledig in gebruik zijn genomen.
Goede stap van Ubisoft :). Meteen minder werkloosheid in Canada, ook al is het niet veel.
